Understanding Mercedes’ A & B Service

It’s not easy to remember the last time you brought your car in for maintenance, but Mercedes-Benz takes out the guesswork with its Flexible Service System (FSS). The system keeps track of how long it’s been since your last service and lets you know when you’re due for your next appointment with Eurofed Auto Repair in Charlotte, NC. Mercedes keeps things simple by sticking to a maintenance schedule that alternates between two sessions: Service A and Service B. After your first 10,000 miles, you’ll start with Service A (also known as minor service). During this visit, we’ll change your engine oil, replace your oil filter, inspect brake components, top off fluids, inspect and inflate your tires, and reset the maintenance counter. Then, in another 10,000 miles, you’ll come back for Service B (known as major service), which includes the same maintenance items as Service A. Still, our technicians will also replace the cabin dust/combination filter and exchange brake fluid. Then, after another 10,000 miles, you’ll go back to Service A and repeat. In some cases, depending on the year and model, the maintenance service indicator may also state that you need services C, D, E, F, G, or H. This system gives you an idea of how long you can expect each maintenance visit to last since each letter corresponds to the number of hours those services may take. For example, Service C should take about three hours, and Service H may take eight. If you have an older model without the FSS, our technicians can create a custom maintenance schedule, so you know when you’re due for your next service. Then, just visit our South End location — 5410 Old Pineville Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217 — and let our ASE-Certified staff take care of the rest.
